Big Pharma Ripoffs on Cancer Patients Makes 60 Minutes

How much would you pay for a year of life?  It seems Big Pharma has figured that number out and are charging over $100,000 a year for life saving Cancer drugs.  Yes, surprise, surprise, the more dire the disease, the more the great for profit pharmaceutical industry is charging for the cure.  In 2012 alone, of the 12 cancer drugs approved by the FDA, 11 cost over $100,000.

Gain at the Price of Patient Pain by Big Pharma

Many of us are aware of the TIME magazine investigation about hospitals charging us $12 for those little paper pill cups. Those little cups add up to millions of dollars a year; but those little red and blue pills that Big Pharma pushes on us add up to billions. The film's website has a donate button for the filmmakers (although frankly they should attach ads as should all content makers whose work is online) but it's good of them to let us watch their film. With further ado....

The Euphoric Drug of Profit

Should the Pharmaceutical industry be for profit? The orthodoxy is profit motives new drug discoveries, research and without it most drugs would never be discovered. But is the dogma from the profit church true?

Despite prescription drugs having a market growth rate of ~4.5% per year and total US sales of $286 billion, global $745 Billion, in 2007, the press was all aghast at the market decline and blamed it all on the lack of new products.

I wonder if you look at medicine as a product? Well, in the current state of affairs life saving compounds are.
