Friday Movie Night - Is Walmart Good For America?

It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

This weeks film is Frontline's Is Walmart Good For America?

We have quite a number of posts on offshore outsourcing. Walmart's cutthroat retailing, cheap wages and importation of goods from China shows a fundamental problem with globalization and how we are creating a race to the bottom for working people around the globe. This film is from 2005 and shows the pressure manufacturers are under due to the power of Walmart and their business practices. Please consider contributing to Frontline for they have produced some of these best, most in depth documentaries on economics out there. We need more of them!

Old Man and the Storm, Frontline

January 6th Frontline has a new documentary about Post Katrina and the incredible waste, mismanagement, fraud, problems with Federal Funds to rebuild the area that are still ongoing.

I think we might want to watch that if it's a good example of cronyism and chuckin' federal funds to one's pals.
