The Consumer Price Index increased 0.1% in March as energy prices increased for the first time since November. Gasoline by itself increased 2.2% for the month. Inflation without food or energy prices considered increased 0.1% with shelter and medical costs once again leading the charge. From a year ago overall CPI has increased 0.9%, which is very low.
Consumer prices for food and most goods and services were all up in February, but another big drop in energy prices dragged the overall index down. The Consumer Price Index Summary from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that seasonally adjusted prices fell by 0.2% in February after they had been unchanged in January and fallen 0.1% in December.

Inflation without food or energy prices considered increased 0.1% for the month and was the smallest increase since last December. Believe it or not, from a year ago overall inflation is unchanged.
